Just as there’s a lid for every pot, there’s a perfect plant stand for every plant. When I made our DIY concrete planters into self-watering, I wasn’t sure what to use to support the weight, but I came up with a good solution to use a raised bed with decorative edging, which you can see in my post on how to make any pot a self-watering planter.

Plant stands do more than keep plants off the floor. They add dimension, color, and texture. Grouping greenery at different heights allows better visibility. Create a dedicated space for houseplants that helps them thrive!

    FAQs

What is the best wood for a plant stand?

Cedar is often considered the best wood for a plant stand due to its natural durability, resistance to decay and insects, and ability to withstand moisture. You can also seal other woods with stain or paint and a polyurethane.

What can I use as an outdoor plant stand?

There are several options you can consider for an outdoor plant stand:
    1. Metal like wrought iron or aluminum.
    2. Cast concrete plant stands from shapes
    3. PVC or plastic
    4. Decorative ceramic garden stools.
    5. Repurpose Outdoor Furniture
Remember to choose materials that are suitable for outdoor use and can withstand the specific climate conditions in your area.

How do I keep my plants from leaning?

If your plant is leaning towards a single light source, this problem is fixed simply by rotating (if the plant appears otherwise healthy and happy). Other large plants, like monstera or jasmine, may need additional support through dowel stakes.
