Strawberry Limeade is a sweet, tart cooler that sings with summertime flavor. It features only 4 ingredients including fresh strawberries and juicy limes for a simple, yet sweetly satisfying summer drink refresher that comes together in minutes.

Two glasses of strawberry limeade with lime garnish on a wood background.

Move over lemonade, there’s a new summer drink on the scene! Featuring fresh strawberries and tangy lime, this Strawberry Limeade recipe is a sweet, tart combo really beats the heat for the ultimate summer refresher.

There’s something about strawberry season that fires up my creativity in the kitchen. Those bright red berries seem to beckon to me more with each passing year- “Summer’s just around the corner!” I can almost hear them cheer. I’ve found ways to incorporate these sweet seasonal treats into everything from Strawberry Poppyseed Salad to Southern Punch Bowl Cake, to Sangria. This recipe is extra fun because it’s a super simple summer sip that everyone can enjoy.

    Tips and Tricks

    • For this recipe, we are going to make a super simple strawberry syrup. If the berries are ripe and lovely, you don’t need an extra simple syrup although you could make one to add more sweetness.
    • The best way to strain the strawberry mixture is through cheesecloth. Dollop the strawberry puree in there and then squeeze it through the cheesecloth similar to how you squeeze an icing bag.
    • I find the seeds stick better to cheesecloth and much less juice is wasted than with a fine mesh sieve or strainer.
A hand squeezing strawberry puree through a cheesecloth sieve.
    • If you plan to make the strawberry limeade ahead of time, don’t add the Sprite until ready to serve. I generally add it to individual glasses.
    • Ice can be crushed or cubed. Be aware that crushed ice melts faster and may dilute the drink.
    • Sugar dissolves better in room temperature liquids than in cold water, so we want to mix the sugar into the strawberry puree if possible.

    Tips for Adjusting Sweetness

Whether you’re adjusting the sweetness for a whole batch or just for your own glass, there are several easy ways to do it!

    • Too sweet? It’s not likely to be too sweet since there is a no added sugar option, but you can use sparkling water instead of clear cola.
    • Not sweet enough? Start by adding 1 tablespoons of granulated sugar into ¼ cup hot water. Allow to cool or add ice cubes. Blend, taste, and repeat until it reaches your desired sweetness level. If it’s only one glass that you’re sweetening, a dash of sugar directly into the glass may do the trick.
    • Natural Fruit Sweetness. Look for small, bright red strawberries or strawberries that are just starting to wilt for the best results. Avoid larger berries or ones with white tops-they’re less likely to be sweet enough.

    Serving Suggestions

Garnish: Serve with a few thin lime slices or lime wedge, sliced strawberries, and/or some fresh mint leaves. Lemon wedges are also pretty but give a lemonade vibe.

Make it a party punch: The recipe makes about 4 glasses as is but if you want to make a big batch, it’s super easy to double or triple.

Make it a new summer cocktail: Add 2 ounces of tequila or white rum. Coconut rum would be my favorite choice!

    How to Store this recipe

If you plan to make this recipe ahead or store it, don’t add the Sprite or sugar until ready to serve. In fact, I recommend topping the glasses rather than mixing. It creates a pretty ombre effect and the carbonation won’t be wasted.

Fridge: Strawberry Limeade can be stored in the fridge for up to a week.
Freezer: Can be kept in the freezer for up to 3 months.

This helped me wean myself from Diet Coke this summer- felt like a nice little treat to replace the crippling caffeine dependency. 😂

Yes, although I don’t know the exact ratio for substituting. It might be best to taste test to be sure.

I’m always on the hunt for summer sips that don’t rely on Kool-Aid or other artificial powders. This was my answer to that this season. Sweet, tart, and so refreshing.

I love the flavor combination of strawberry and lime. I added a sprig of fresh mint and a cute straw to my little “mocktail.”

Made a large batch for a summer soiree. Served it according to the recipe. Stocked a bottle of chilled Tequila on the bar. Guests loved both versions. Easy peasy!

I’ve never been much for the classic summer beverages. Lemonade and Iced tea really aren’t my thing. I loved this! So glad to have stumbled across it.
